My colleague Josh Hurst got married a few days ago and is off enjoying the perks of newly wedded bliss for the next couple of weeks, so I'm looking after his Reel News column for CT Movies until he gets back. Today's column looks at some of the latest developments with regard to The Hobbit, including last Saturday's online chat with producer Peter Jackson and director Guillermo Del Toro, as well as the Times of London's recent report that Christopher Tolkien still hopes to "terminate" these films before they are made; he will argue his case in court June 6.

Given that I hated The Two Towers and that I am still rather ambivalent in my feelings toward The Return of the King, I might not be too displeased should Christopher Tolkien win his case.
I've said this over at Jeff's site, but cut the last t5 minutes of RotK, make a movie out of scouring the shire and forget the mid-movie.
I'm also a little worried about GDT as director. And the movies are going to be rated PG-13 says Jackson...same as the LotR movies. But the Hobbit is not the same at all.
I agree wit you, though maybe up a notch on the emotions; I can't say I hated Two Towers, though I was awful disappointed. And what they did to Faramir was unpardonable.
I had steeled myself for the most egregious omissions (see above) from RotK, so I wasn't as disappointed as I could have been. But after tFotR, the next two movies were not so good.
