Indiana Jones and the Chariots of the Gods?

Take this with the usual grains of salt, but CHUD.com says it has heard from an insider on Indiana Jones IV:
‘Belloq’ also tells us that the opening action scene of the film will pit Dr. Jones against Russians agents in Area 51 – which is interesting, as this is a major similarity to the Frank Darabont draft that confirms my belief that much of what was in that script has made its way into what will be filmed this summer. . . .Oy vey. It's one thing for Steven Spielberg to put allegorical Moses figures and Christ figures in UFO movies like Close Encounters of the Third Kid (1977) and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), but if this film goes the Erich von Däniken route -- suggesting that all the world's religions were reactions to visits from outer space -- then that would be far, far too literal. Then again, it is always possible that the film will point beyond the sci-fi stuff to something truly mystical or supernatural. (It is probably hoping too much to wonder if the film might go in the direction of C.S. Lewis's Out of the Silent Planet, but that's the sort of thing I'm thinking of.)
I’m holding back some details, but from what ‘Belloq’ tells me, and from my own quick reading through the Darabont draft, I would say that the main storyline remains roughly the same – it involves crystal skulls and takes its cues from Chariots of the Gods.
Either way, maybe this will explain how C-3PO and R2-D2 turned up in the hieroglyphics in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).

Is that photo for real...wow I never noticed that before...cool
The Philosophy of Neo-Noir discusses the similarities between Raiders and Kiss Me Deadly. I'll show it to you rather than spoil it for everyone, but Lucas will clearly undo the whole point of the 1st film by doing this.
Actually, it is interesting just how many films have borrowed from Kiss Me Deadly. (which I have yet to see the whole way through) The film itself borrows from the myth of Pandora.
Hmmm, I was aware of a possible link between Kiss Me Deadly and Pulp Fiction, but hadn't considered any possible links to Raiders of the Lost Ark. But now that you mention it, yeah, I can see that. (I've gotta see Kiss Me Deadly again some day.)
Let me know when you do.
I knew after Last Crusade that they might use this idea. Some friends and I were discussing it at the movie theatre where we worked and I suggested they discover the Nazca Lines in Peru were made by extraterrestrials. They all thought the idea was cool. I'd read Chariots of the Gods already and was working on my own script, though set in Australia.
Eighteen years later, a friend of mine here at the studio was going to go see it at a midnight show. I said, "The alien ship will probably tear out of the earth at end." He called me first thing next morning and said, "How the hell did you know that??" I said, "I do my homework!"
I liked Indy 4, despite some really dumb stuff in it (don't they all have dumb stuff??) but not a single younger person in our group who went to see it liked it. They loathed it. I explained it was 1957, after War of the Worlds and Invaders From Mars and The Day the Earth Stood Still had been box office smashes, that it's just as crazy as finding the Grail or the Ark of the Covenant, but they would have none of it. Kids. Why does it always have to be kids?
