LaHaye, Straczynski developing Bible movies
She also notes something that I had never heard before, which is that Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski recently announced that he is writing the script for "a big budget historical movie based on the life of King David," to be turned in by mid-January. Akiva Goldsman, who recently bagged the most lucrative screenwriting contract in history for Angels & Demons, the sequel to The Da Vinci Code, is one of the film's producers. I am very, very intrigued -- and of course, I cannot help but wonder how the film will compare to Bruce Beresford's King David (1985)!
UPDATE: This website adds the detail that Straczynski "suggests thinking along the lines of Braveheart or Gladiator."

Instead of Gere, you'll have Ben Affleck as King David.
I read a note by Joe saying he was on to something that would turn him into "an overnight hollywood sensation" a la Akiva, but he had no details to offer.
To see that everyone's favourite I, Robot butcherer is attached to the project is disconcerting. I'm a fan on Joe, but not so much the latter.
And considering the parallels he draws, and Joe's own strongly athiestic worldview, I'm suspecting that it might be one of those, turn-things-on-their-heads type scripts. Then again, he was very even-haded with the catholic characters in Bab 5, so.....
Looking at that link you posted, I think it was actually the Changeling he was talking about.
Anyway. Given the choice of Tim Lehaye or JMS writing attracting me to a movie...well, no contest there.
