The next comic-book movie -- about Lucifer?

IESB.net reports that various movie studios, emboldened by the success of 300, are vying for the film rights to another graphic novel about an ancient battle of epic, even mythical, proportions, by the name of War in Heaven -- which, alas, seems to have no connection to the Charles Williams novel of that name:
Trac 2 Media, is developing a feature film adaptation of the forthcoming comic book series "War in Heaven." The project has been dubbed “the next 300.” The comic book series, created by producer Jeff Krelitz, is scheduled to be co-written by screenwriter Craig Fernandez, fresh off adapting Arthur C. Clarke’s Time's Eye for Sci-Fi Channel and comic book legend Keith Giffen. Ex Machina co-creator and Eisner award winning artist Tony Harris is drawing the book.Sounds interesting. But wait -- wouldn't this movie be essentially competing with Scott Derrickson's Paradise Lost?
Talk of the town is that several major comic book publishers, one being D.C. Comics, along with several studios were vying for the rights to "WAR IN HEAVEN" this past weekend.
The details of the story are guarded, but we know that War in Heaven centers on a Braveheart-like storyline that ultimately follows Lucifer as he leads a rebellion in Heaven. Battle sequences shows legions of Angels, including Gabriel and Michael, battling with their brother Lucifer and his army of fallen Angels.

I keep crashing so I can't log in as me. But here are my comments:
Yes, I agree, it's definitely competing with Paradise lost. And i think it's utterly bogus that they're calling it a "Braveheart" style story, Hello? Wallace was the GOOD GUY rebel! If Lucifer is supposed to be the Braveheart/Wallace character, then that would ake HIM the good guy!
Is Hollywood going to ask us to root for the Devil???
Whoo-Hoo! Here's to Evil!
Seriously though, it just demonstrates that life in Hollywood is all about being a copycat.
"Hey, Paramount is running with that Rubber Monster Thingy script."
"Well, we'd better get a Rubber Thingy Monster script of our own! Get a script to me pronto!"

It's like the millennial era all over again! Remember that? The era of The Ninth Gate (1999), End of Days (1999), Lost Souls (2000), Bless the Child (2000), and so on?

Hadn't heard about that -- thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I had that thought too.

Well, with the film versions of Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' trilogy on the way -- and hey, doesn't that title come from Paradise Lost? -- it's certainly possible, I think.
Thinking about it, I wish I was a filmaker with a sympathetic studio's ear. I'd make an adaptation of Alexander Pope's mock epic "Rape of the Lock". The timing is perfect.
Lots of Lucifer in the years ahead? That can be a good thing only if in showing Lucifer we eventually point past him to Christ. Giving the Red Dragon too much free air time ain't a wise thing to do.
